Afgelopen week ontving ik het boek Prayers of Honoring: Grief van Pixie Lighthorse. Ik lees dit boek in een zeer laag tempo en zal af en toe het één en ander met jullie delen.
“We are routinely cultured to “get on with it” from an early age, instructed not to waste time lingering in negativity. When the alternative is avoidence we actually become more fragile, though we are taught to believe the opposite. Grief remains in the systems of the body, informing our lives in subtle and subversive ways in the form of fear, anxiety and depression.”
“Grief doesn’t bite. It is a natural and normal way of dispersing energy through the body’s wise and impeccable systems.”
“Grief has no timeline.”
“Ignoring grief produces a false measure of our ability to persevere through life’s challenges.”
“It is important not to shame or silence those who are grieving something precious that was stolen from them: their dignity, their child, their health, their partner, their home, their safe or secure childhood, their innocence of faith.”
